What to Expect at Your First Consultation

The first consultation lasts about an hour.

We want to know your concerns, goals, and expectations. We are here to answer any questions you may have about your care at our clinic. Your Prosthodontist treating you will conduct a thorough exam and determine your treatment needs. You will be advised on the best treatment option for you and given an estimate of time and cost. Patients with complex dental problems are often required to collect diagnostic records, such as digital radiographs, photos, and models of their teeth. During your consultation, you will receive the cost of your specific diagnostic records. After you express interest in treatment, future appointments can be set up.

Treatment Planning Consultation and Consent for Treatment

Your treating Prosthodontist will conduct a treatment planning consultation for the majority of patients before treatment starts. This meeting is to discuss our findings and make recommendations. This meeting will usually be scheduled two weeks after the diagnostic records have been obtained. Your treating prosthodontist evaluates your diagnostic records before creating your treatment plan. You will receive a treatment plan that includes different options and an estimated cost of treatment during this appointment. We encourage you to bring a significant other or a person who can help or participate in your decision-making. You will receive a thorough explanation of the risks, benefits and alternative treatments. Before starting treatment, all your questions will have been answered.

A reserved time slot is set aside for you once an appointment has been made. We require a minimum of two days notice if you cannot keep your appointment. There may be a charge for cancellations made at short notice or appointments missed.

Dental Insurance

We are committed to providing you with the best possible care. You are responsible for all fees charged by this office regardless of your insurance coverage. If you wish, we will assist you with dental insurance pre-determinations to help calculate your eligible coverage prior to treatment.

Please note that our office does not direct bill your insurance company. However, we will submit a claim electronically or provide you with a dental insurance claim form that you can submit to your private insurer or employer so that you may receive your eligible reimbursement. If you have dental insurance, we are anxious to help you receive your maximum allowable benefits. In order to achieve these goals, we need your assistance, and your understanding of how we work with insurance.

  • We ask that you come prepared to pay your account at each visit. We accept cash, certified cheque, Visa, MasterCard, Debit and EMT (Email Money Transfer).

  • We are happy to prepare and file electronic insurance claims. We will provide you with necessary documentation for the services you receive. You will receive reimbursement directly from the insurance company.

  • Your insurance is a contract between you, your employer, and the insurance company. We emphasize that as health care providers, our relationship is with you, not your insurance company.

  • Although we can often estimate what your coverage will be, we cannot be responsible for the accuracy of our estimates because of the overwhelming number of insurance plans and changes in coverage that are continually occurring.

  • Due to the overwhelming number of insurance plans, it is impossible for us to be able to guarantee coverage by your individual insurance plans.
